Ceo Of Your Own Career Leadership Development Programme
The Challenges
The new world of work requires employees that are self-starters, self-managed, and proactive, as well as leaders that are inspirational, competent, and supportive. But young employees joining from educational institutions have often been taught to be subservient and managers are technical experts that lack basic management and people skills.
The mix of reticent employees and untrained managers can result in workplaces that are highly stressed, dysfunctional, and toxic.
When organisations do make training available, the training interventions are often ad hoc and not integrated, leaving the learners with the hard task of trying to connect the dots. Management development training treats managers at all levels as having the same requirements and much of what first time managers learn is redundant while more senior managers are left frustrated by a lack of suitable content.
The Solution
The solution lies in going back to basics. We need to start by teaching all employees emotional maturity, assertiveness, and the skills necessary to be a proactive and high performing employee.
With this foundation employees who progress into management and leadership positions can learn the necessary skills required as they move through the stages of; leading employees, to leading teams, then leading departments and functions, and finally leading business units and businesses.
Grayfeather Consulting has developed an integrated management and leadership development programme that builds systematically on the knowledge of employees, from when their only requirement is to be a leader of self, through to when they are the leader of a business. The learner completes three modules per level and the training deals with the core and important skills and competencies for each of the five levels.
